Kohima: Unidentified gunmen targeted the home of R. John Zeliang late on September 20. The Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland president lives in Jalukie B village, Peren district. Witnesses spotted the men carrying sophisticated weapons around 11:10 p.m. Four local organizations issued a joint condemnation of the security breach.
The Zeliangrong Students Union Nagaland joined the Nsong Area Youth Organization, the Nsong Kebai Public Organization, and the Jalukie B Village Youth Organisation in the outcry. They labeled the gun culture a direct threat to peace. NAYO called the incident “extremely serious and deeply disturbing,” noting that intimidation has no place in a democratic society.
These groups are now pressuring police and local administrators for a fast, unbiased investigation. They want the perpetrators identified and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The organizations warned that they will not tolerate attempts to silence leadership through coercion. They urged the public to stay calm while investigations proceed. The groups remain committed to communal harmony and safety for all residents.
