Kohima: The Western Naga Youth Front hit back against violence. On Sunday, the group condemned an armed threat that occurred at Jalukie B village in Peren district on September 20, 2026. Unidentified gunmen targeted the home of R John Zeliang, president of the Zeliangrong Youth Front Nagaland. Witnesses report the suspects were "carrying sophisticated weapons."
The WNYF blasted the incident as a major threat to public order. The group declared they have zero tolerance for coercion or armed intimidation used to settle disputes. Leaders demanded that authorities launch an immediate and thorough investigation to bring those responsible to justice. They warned that no group should be allowed to bypass the law or terrorize citizens with firearms.
Solidarity remains the priority. The WNYF reached out to Zeliang, his family, and the broader Zeliangrong community. They urged the public to stay calm and avoid escalating tensions. The organization maintains its firm stance against gun culture and warned that the safety and dignity of Nagaland residents must remain protected.
