Kohima: The Konyak Union completed a five-day peace mission across Eastern Nagaland from October 15 to October 19, 2026. The delegation toured Shamator, Kiphire, Noklak, Tuensang, and Longleng to soothe rising inter-tribal tensions. Union president K Yamao Konyak and general secretary Wango Konyak led the effort to promote unity and brotherhood.

The group met with tribal leaders and civil society representatives to push for peaceful coexistence. They aligned their mission with the objectives of the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation. In Tuensang, the team visited seven tribal churches. They asked church leaders to help heal the region. They also visited the Tikhir Tribal Council headquarters in Kiusam to speak with locals displaced by recent violence.

The KU delegation sat down with the deputy commissioners of Kiphire and Shamator to review the security situation. They also briefed ENPO leaders in Tuensang on the conditions they observed and pushed for state government intervention. The union anchored their work in an ENPO resolution from December 18, 2007, which "strictly prohibits bloodshed and violence within Eastern Nagaland’s jurisdiction."

The mission wrapped up in Longleng with a meeting involving the Phom People’s Council. The union issued a final plea to all tribal groups. Stop the violence. Strengthen your bonds. They demand collective action to stabilize the region and keep the peace.
