Tuensang students compete in consumer awareness essay contest

Kohima: Forty-seven students squared off in an essay contest at Sao Chang Government College. The Department of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection ran the event on October 5 as part of a larger consumer awareness campaign. Contestants wrote on the theme: "A Well-Informed and Confident Consumer is an Asset to Society."

The Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology and Consumer Protection addressed the crowd during the competition. Dr. Toninaro Chongpho and Naong Chemden, both assistant professors at the college, coordinated the logistics. Prizes were handed out October 9 during the Lumina Fest 2026 celebration.

College Principal Dr. Lanurenla presented the awards. Lamn P, a fifth-semester political science student, took the top prize of 5,000 rupees and a certificate. Kongniu C grabbed second place for 3,000 rupees, and Yimtsula N Yim finished third to collect 2,000 rupees.

Seven others walked away with consolation prizes. The recipients included B. Wongtokiu, Tsunshila Yimchunger, Shakshi Lepla, Veiniu C., Rohit Dutta, Khunou Lam, and Sangliba T Sangtam.
