Kohima: Sao Chang College students kicked off a new academic year during the 53rd Freshers’ Meet on August 25. The event took place at the College Multipurpose Hall in Tuensang. Freshers stepped into the college community under the theme, “Beyond the Threshold.”
Principal Dr. Lanurenla spoke to the crowd about college awards and academic programs. She offered insights from her perspective as both a principal and a parent. Lemba APY Saksi Baptist Lashong led a special prayer for the incoming class. Sangmailenla, the general secretary of the Sao Chang College Students’ Union, delivered the welcome address. Rangcholi spoke for the students joining the campus.
Vocal performances from Betikhumla and the hostellers filled the room. The event transitioned into an informal session packed with student talent. Phumshung W Phom of Political Science grabbed the Ms Fresher title. Hiamphai of Sociology took home the Mr Fresher crown. Moalemla from the Education Department earned Ms Congeniality, while B Sangle Chiba of the English Department won Mr Personality.
The ramp walk honors went to Aliya of Sociology and Sangtsali Sangtam of History. The college stated that the meet was an opportunity to "showcase their talents and foster fellowship within the college community." The celebration ended on a high note for the new arrivals.
