Kohima: The Naga Council Dimapur is pushing for peace. It wants the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes to abandon their conflict and choose brotherhood. Dimapur officials released a statement on October 12 urging both groups to drop the baggage of the past for the sake of future generations.
Violence now threatens Eastern Nagaland. The council warned that these clashes jeopardize the progress made by the Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organization, specifically the recent achievement of the Frontier Nagaland Territory Authority. The NCD insists that such disputes stall both peace and development across the region.
The NCD prides itself on a foundation of unity among its 20 affiliated Naga tribes. It views this current infighting as a betrayal of those roots. The council made its stance clear in a recent press release, noting, "At a time when the unified effort of ENPO have achieved FNTA, such unfortunate communal violence instead of dialogue will hamper the peace and development of Eastern Nagaland."
Leadership in Dimapur remains firm. They expect the tribes to reconcile and find common ground immediately.
