Kohima: The Naga Club issued a warning today regarding rising tensions between the Tikhir and Yimkhiung communities. Recent violence serves as a bitter reminder that society cannot survive if it creates new divides while the political future of the Nagas remains uncertain. Territorial disputes and narrow political gains have already weakened the unity of the people.
Violence is bleeding into the social space. This needs to stop. The club insists that civil society organizations must use their influence to lead and heal, not to fuel further fragmentation. The group argues that disagreements over land boundaries are common, but they should never erupt into open conflict. "The utmost important factor is to stand together with unity of purpose," the organization stated.
Violence creates generational hate. The Naga Club believes that the shared geography of the Tikhir and Yimkhiung people is permanent, making peaceful dialogue and legal procedures the only valid paths toward a resolution. Mutual respect must guide the process. The club issued a formal appeal to both the Tikhir Tribal Council and the Yimkhiung Tribal Council to settle their differences and restore the bond of brotherhood that defined their history. "Let us not be the generation responsible for passing down hatred," the statement urged.
