ENNWU Urges Peace Between Yimkhiung and Tikhir Tribes

Kohima: The Eastern Naga National Workers Union of the NSCN (IM) issued an urgent plea on October 18 for the Yimkhiung and Tikhir tribes to quit fighting. Tensions are running high. The union demanded that both groups show restraint to stop the current conflict from spiraling out of control.

Violence only breeds more pain. Retaliation and confrontation will cause deep, lasting divisions. The union wants tribal elders, civil society groups, and citizens to step in and secure an immediate resolution through honest dialogue and mutual respect.

The ENNWU reminded both tribes that they belong to the same Naga family. They share a history, culture, and set of traditions that should act as a bond rather than a wedge. The group warned the public to ignore rumors and inflammatory statements, as these only make the situation worse.

The union stated: "The preservation of peace was a collective responsibility and stressed the need to restore trust between the two tribes." They are pushing for brotherhood and forgiveness. Leaders must act now before the conflict harms the next generation.
