Lodging Businesses in Dimapur, Chümoukedima and Niuland Face Seven-Day Registration Deadline

Kohima: Lodging businesses across Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland must register within seven days. Owners of hotels, inns, guest houses, and homestays are now on the clock. The Deputy Commissioner of Police for Dimapur issued the order on October 12, citing the Sarais Act of 1867. Compliance is not optional.

The mandate covers all proprietors and persons in charge of public accommodation. These businesses must head to their respective jurisdictional Deputy Commissioner of Police to finalize the necessary legal paperwork. Failure to act now creates a liability.

Authorities expect full adherence to the law. The directive aims to improve how these facilities operate and log guest information. As stated in the official order, the move is "with a view to ensuring proper regulation, registration and maintenance of records by establishments providing lodging and accommodation to the public."

Every shop must follow the rules. Operators are required to strictly observe all provisions of the Act alongside any current regulations. The clock started ticking October 12.
