Phek Government College Celebrates 44th Freshers Meet

Kohima: Phek Government College hosted its 44th Freshers Meet on August 7 at the Deo Nukhu Hall. Assistant Professor Seyielenuo Nisa opened the event with an invocation. Associate Professor Vevolu Khamo followed with the welcome address.

The college honored top students during the ceremony. Vemutulu Vero from the Department of Political Science earned the L. Mefutiba Award for achieving the highest CGPA of 8.03 among final year students under Nagaland University. This award, established in 2018 by the former principal, includes a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Additionally, Veduvolu Khamo took home the Department of Education Meritorious Award for a 6.85 CGPA.

Guest of honour and Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori spoke to the students. He pressed them to own their decisions. He told the crowd, "choice" is an important tool available to every individual and carries the power to determine the direction of one's life.

Nguori noted that failure acts as a necessary stepping stone toward success. He reminded the new students that their current actions dictate their future outcomes. Life happens in the space between birth and death, he said. He challenged the freshers to use that space wisely.
