Longleng orders road cleanup while Phek warns of live-fire drills

Kohima: Longleng authorities want the streets clear. Additional Deputy Commissioner Thungchanbemo Tungoe issued a formal directive on October 13 ordering contractors and property owners to clear construction debris from public paths. Sand, stone, bricks, and timber currently block foot traffic and vehicles across town. The order gives violators two days to clear their supplies. If they fail, the Longleng Town Council will seize the materials. Officials plan to bill the owners for the cleanup costs.

Meanwhile, the 14th Nagaland Armed Police IR Battalion has locked down a training zone in Phek. The B Company will host its annual classification firing at the Sathari range below the 5th NAP Camp. The drill runs through October 14. A notice via the DIPR warned locals to stay away. "The public has been advised not to go near the firing range and to ensure that domestic animals are not let loose in the area during the firing period."
