Kohima: Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom led a team to the Longleng District Hospital site on September 16 to inspect progress. The group included the Superintendent of Police, the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Superintendent, and an engineer from the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Kohima. They walked the grounds with the contractor.
They scrutinized every corner of the building. The team demanded specific improvements to the ICU Sister’s Room and hospital washrooms. They insisted on correct drainage slopes to stop water from pooling. Proper planning is everything.
Landslides currently choke local road access. The Deputy Commissioner ordered the contractor to stockpile vital construction materials on-site now. If the main highway fails, crews will use the Tangha–Kangching–Merangkong Road to haul in supplies.
Phom wants engineers on-site full-time for this final push. He stated, "The DC emphasised the importance of stationing concerned engineers at the site during the final stage to facilitate timely supervision, resolve technical issues, and ensure completion as per approved specifications." They aim to prevent delays and meet every building standard.
