Nagaland officials push private sector skills to fight youth unemployment

Kohima: Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission held a sensitisation event for DDU-GKY 2.0 on October 30. The meeting took place at the Multipurpose Hall inside the DC Office Complex in Phek. Zhalie Puro, the district ADPM, chaired the session. Keynote speaker Moa Sangtam, Joint Secretary of Rural Development, pushed the need for job-ready skills.

Chief Operating Officer Menuoneituo Chadi detailed how the program helps rural workers. DRDA Phek Project Director Zhoi Lohe echoed these points, noting that education and skills go hand in hand. Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Ngouri attended as the special guest. He told the crowd that government work is not the only path forward. He stated, "Tackling unemployment was a collective responsibility and not solely the government's task."

Ngouri urged local groups to stop chasing only government posts. He wants village councils, student bodies, and churches to push private sector training. Councils should build databases of local job seekers. Churches can help guide youth toward the right training under the NSRLM banner. The event wrapped up with a vote of thanks from Shehulu D Vadeo, an Area Coordinator for the Chetheba Block.
