Assam Rifles Marks Zeliangrong Festival and National Unity Day

Kohima: Assam Rifles troops visited Nzao village in the Tening Sub-Division of Peren district on November 1. They joined the Zeliangrong community to celebrate Chaga Gaadi, a major local festival. The force handed out gifts to the villagers to build goodwill and solidarity. This outreach aimed to strengthen regional ties and support local traditions.

One press release noted that the participation was part of the force's efforts to "strengthen its ties with the local population and promote mutual trust and understanding." The event focused on the cultural heritage and community spirit of the Zeliangrong people.

The force also held a separate event in the Wokha district. Soldiers gathered at Bhandari on October 31 for a pledge-taking ceremony. This event marked Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, or National Unity Day, which honors the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Participants swore to protect the unity, integrity, and security of India.

The ceremony underscored Patel's role in the unification of the country. Officials stated the initiative pushed for patriotism and collective responsibility among the attendees. Assam Rifles continues to use these public events to boost the spirit of service across the region.
