Imphal: Assam Rifles Director General Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera inspected border security in Manipur on October 28. He visited Moreh and Chongjang to monitor the ongoing fence construction along the India-Myanmar frontier. The trip aimed to evaluate the overall security situation in Tengnoupal district.

Lakhera checked key crossing points and spoke with locals about their worries. The Director General demanded better surveillance and readiness, noting the necessity for "effective surveillance, enhanced operational preparedness and robust border management to maintain vigilance and security in the strategically important region."

Manipur shares 398 kilometers of international border with Myanmar. Stopping illegal crossings remains a top priority. State Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam reported that workers already finished fencing 55 kilometers of that line.
