Kohima: Police in Kohima arrested a 59-year-old man for allegedly raping and impregnating his 12-year-old biological daughter. The suspect is a retired police officer. Authorities took him into custody on October 24. The grim reality surfaced during a medical checkup in Dimapur.
The victim’s mother and a sibling brought the girl to a health facility. Doctors discovered she was in the third trimester of pregnancy. The facility alerted Childline. They quickly notified the Dimapur police, who passed the case to Kohima authorities. The minor is now in institutional care.
Reports suggest the sexual abuse began in 2025 when the girl was 11. Police produced the accused in court for a three-day remand period. He moved into judicial custody on October 28. Investigators are now looking into the mother to determine if she played a role. "The minor was rescued, and counseling was provided to facilitate medical attention," a source stated.
