Police Arrest Chiechama Man Following Construction Site Shooting

Kohima: A construction worker remains hospitalized after a gunman shot him in the back at a Primary Health Centre site in Chiechama village. The incident took place at 11 am on September 16 in Kohima district. Officers rushed the victim, 27-year-old Langshe Lomou from Chendang Saddle, to the hospital for emergency surgery. He is now out of danger.

Police filed an FIR at 4 pm. By 5 pm, they tracked down and arrested Medochulie Zumvu. He is now held at the District Sub-Jail under judicial custody. Investigators recovered a country-made pistol linked to the attack. They are still digging into the motive behind the violence.

The Chiechama Village Council blasted the shooter in a public statement. They called the act "barbaric and inhuman" while demanding the law-enforcement agencies secure justice. Council members praised the police for the fast arrest. They also banned any residents from bailing Zumvu out of custody.
