Kohima: The Joint Council Forum wants immediate action against a surge of copper wire and coil thefts across Dimapur. Residents report stolen equipment in NST Colony, Churches Colony, Middle Point, Nyamo Lotha Colony, and Khermahal. These crimes go beyond simple property loss. They trigger deep insecurity throughout the community.
The forum suspects a broad criminal network operates behind these hits. This reach extends well past the individual thieves snatching copper from units. The organization pressed authorities to target the entire supply chain. "Offenders must be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law," the JCF stated in a release on September 12.
Police need to hunt down scrap dealers and intermediaries who buy, store, or transport stolen goods. The group demanded that officials treat the spree with urgency. Authorities must intensify enforcement now. Visible action is the only way to protect property and restore public confidence in the area.
