Dimapur Police Seize Five Rifles From NSCN Leader

Kohima: Dimapur police caught two men carrying an arsenal of rifles and ammunition on August 28. Officers intercepted an auto-rickshaw near the Aoyimti village cemetery at 5:30 pm. They found five .303 rifles with magazines and 90 rounds of ammunition stashed inside the vehicle.

Police identified the suspects as Ghotovi Yeptho, a deputy kilonser with the GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi), and the driver, Akhehoto Yepto. The suspects lacked permits for the weapons. The vehicle registration was NL07F6939.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police stated, "Acting on credible information regarding the illegal possession and transportation of firearms, the Dimapur Police team conducted operation in the vicinity of Aoyimti village Dimapur."

Authorities booked both men at the East Police Station. Charges include Section 25(1A) of the Arms Act, Section 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Sections 7/8 of the Nagaland Security Regulation Act. Police are still investigating the case. They urged the public to report any illegal arms trafficking.
