Kohima: The District Health Society Wokha joined forces with the 17th Assam Rifles to host a Reproductive Child Health camp in Bhandari on September 12. The event took place at the Community Health Centre.
Dr. Abenthung Murry, the District Tuberculosis Officer, opened the session with a talk on TB screening. He told the crowd that anyone suffering from a cough or fever for over two weeks, weight loss, loss of appetite, bloody sputum, chest pain, or breathlessness should get checked. He noted, "free treatment is available at designated health facilities in the district" for those showing symptoms or with a history of contact with TB patients.
Mhonbeni Ezung, the District Programme Manager for the National Health Mission, outlined the impact of RCH services on mothers and children. Bhandari Town Council chairman Khonthungia Odyuo thanked the medical team and the 17th Assam Rifles for bringing these services to town.
The camp offered a wide range of free care. Patients accessed general OPD, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Eye, Dental, and ENT services. Staff performed screenings for Malaria, HIV, TB, and non-communicable diseases. The team also conducted chest X-rays and helped residents generate CMHIS cards. Organizers handed out free medicines and informational leaflets covering JSSK, NCD, and HPV topics.
