Zunheboto Falls Short of TB Screening Goal

Kohima: Zunheboto officials met October 29 at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference hall to assess the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan. Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, IAS, led the review of the district's fight against tuberculosis. The data shows clear gaps. Health workers have screened more than 9,000 people, but the district set a target of 15,000 screenings.

The campaign focuses on early detection, rapid treatment, and wider public awareness. Officials aim to link every suspected case to healthcare services. The committee demanded better interdepartmental coordination to hit the remaining targets. The Deputy Commissioner stated, "The meeting also underscored the need for sustained public awareness, community participation and coordinated action to address tuberculosis and ensure that suspected cases are identified and linked to appropriate healthcare services."

Staff must now ramp up screening activities. Everyone must help. The district remains committed to the goal of a TB-free society through community engagement and rigorous patient support.
