Kohima: A state team from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme visited Zunheboto from October 5 to 7. They aimed to sharpen disease control work. The team included State Programme Officer Dr. Imnapokim and Deputy Director Dr. Kavito Zhimomi.
Officials held a sensitisation meeting at the DC Conference Hall. Attendees included government staff, church leaders, and civil society groups. Chief Medical Officer Dr. G. Viholi Sema chaired the session. Consultant Mudosayi Hurie delivered an epidemiological report. This data tracked malaria trends from 2018 to 2026 and dengue cases from 2023 to 2026.
Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj called for a unified front. He insisted on regular spraying and quick medical care. The state team outlined the roles of the District Task Force and the District Elimination Committee. They pushed for better sanitation and increased use of insecticidal nets.
The experts emphasized the 3Ts to curb malaria. Dr. Kavito Zhimomi stated, "Testing, Treatment and Tracking" remain the primary tools for effective management and elimination of the disease.
