Itanagar: Health Minister Biyuram Wahge met officials at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences on Saturday to confront rising dengue cases. He focused his strategy on the Itanagar Capital Region. Itanagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Likha Nari Tadar and various city corporators joined the session.
Wahge wants the Health Department, the municipal corporation, and local administrators working as one unit. The minister commanded these groups to kill off mosquito breeding sites and sharpen disease tracking. Public outreach must improve to get the community involved. He pushed this message during a Wednesday session as well.
The Itanagar Capital Region district medical officer, Dr. C. Lowang Mallo, issued a formal health advisory. Locals must spot cases early and seek help. The advisory describes the illness as an acute fever that bites hard for two to seven days. Common signs include headache, rashes, joint pain, body ache, and what officials describe as "retro-orbital pain, or pain behind the eyes."
Health authorities are tracking a spike in sudden fevers across the region. Officials expect testing and early detection to blunt the impact of the outbreak. Rapid response is the primary goal.
