Kohima: Jubilee Memorial College in Mokokchung hosted a health awareness and blood donation camp on September 19. The Red Ribbon Club partnered with the District Integrated Strategy for HIV/AIDS to run the event. They organized the day around the theme, "Rethink. Rebuild. Rise."
Principal Dr. Imtiwati Jamir opened the proceedings. Narola T Walling chaired the session. MICTC Counsellor Sabo Aier led a talk on HIV/AIDS prevention and debunked common myths. District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Toshila followed with a presentation on early TB detection. The college offered free X-ray screenings to students on-site to help catch infections early.
Students competed in an RRC Reel Competition. The Department of History took first place, followed by the English and Sociology departments. Dr. H Tsipongchem Sangtam, the SMO of the local Blood Centre, encouraged the crowd to give blood. Fourteen people stepped up to donate. The list of donors includes students Imnatemsu Kichu, Temsumongba, Menangniba, Sashikumzuk, Sutsungmong, Samuel, Merenlong, Akumlong, Moameren, Sakurepba, and Imtitemsu Jamir. Faculty members Imlikokba Kichu and Yimnayanger Aier joined staff member Solomon in the effort.
Organizers noted the camp pushed for better social responsibility. The event successfully merged medical education with community service.
