Lotha Youth Hoho Raids Government Offices Over Attendance

Kohima: Lotha Youth Hoho members stormed various government offices in Wokha and Bhandari on August 10. They wanted results. The group launched surprise checks to enforce office hours and target staff who show up late or leave early.

Inspectors hit 13 offices in Wokha: Deputy Commissioner, PWD (R&B), PWD (Mechanical), PWD (Housing), Legal & Metrology, Statistical, Treasury, Art & Culture, Labour, DIPR, DSCO, District Youth Resource, and Food & Civil Supplies. The team confronted officials about widespread complaints of staff dodging their duties.

Things looked worse in Bhandari. The PWD (R&B) office stood completely empty and locked. The Soil Department had just three Grade-IV employees on site, with two others reportedly on leave. The Rural Development Block Office was also shut tight.

The Hoho members told officials that these absences hurt the public, especially folks traveling from remote villages to get help. They promised to keep watching. The group plans more follow-up visits to catch repeat offenders and report them to higher authorities.

The organization made its stance clear regarding the ongoing monitoring of staff. The Lotha Youth Hoho stated that it would continue to raise concerns over irregularities in government offices in the interest of public welfare, accountability and improved delivery of public services.

The August 10 inspections were not spontaneous events. They served as a follow-up to a recent formal directive issued by the Hoho that demanded strict adherence to official working hours.
