Police Bust Drug Traffickers With Rs 60 Lakh in Heroin

Shillong: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force and West Garo Hills police caught two interstate drug traffickers on Saturday. The team hit Tikrikilla after getting a tip. They ran a naka check and stopped the pair. Officers found 112.52 grams of suspected heroin packed inside 10 plastic soap boxes. The stash carries a street value of Rs 60 lakh.

Police took Shahadot Ali and Rejaul Islam into custody. Both men are 31 years old and call Assam’s Goalpara district home. Ali lives in Rakhyasini Jungle Block near the Mornoi station, while Islam stays in Helapokri near the Baladmari station. The raid also netted two cars and three mobile phones.

The Tikrikilla Police Station booked the pair under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. ANTF Superintendent of Police Vikash Kumar said the operation points to a bigger criminal pipeline. Investigators are digging into the syndicate’s ties to track down the remaining crew. "Police are currently probing the network’s forward and backward linkages to identify other accomplices."

The force wants the public to talk. Call in tips about the suspects or other drug deals. Authorities promised to keep all sources anonymous and pay for good leads.
