Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma visited Tikrikilla on September 11 to push new governance and infrastructure projects. He rolled out the Patta Management System portal to digitize land records and increase transparency. He also debuted the Service Conduct Rules Book to enforce discipline among Garo Hills Autonomous District Council staff. The Chief Minister praised CEM Dhormonath Sangma and the council members for pushing these reforms.
Development moves fast. Sangma also laid the foundation stone for a new RCC bridge over the Didak River at Jangrapara. This sits on the Tikrikilla-Jangrapara road. The state wants better links for remote communities. Officials claim the government built over 3,500 kilometers of roads in eight years. That is roughly 1.1 kilometers per day.
The Chief Minister touted shorter travel times across the region. He noted the Baghmara-Rongara trip now takes only 30 minutes. The Rongara to Ranikor journey dropped from three hours to one. Sangma emphasized that these projects aim to boost local business and livelihoods. He added, "Development is a gradual process, but the government has been laying the foundation for a stronger, better-connected and more developed Meghalaya, with improved infrastructure aimed at creating greater opportunities for people across the state."
The state continues to upgrade schools and healthcare facilities. They put over Rs 200 crore into 56 blocks over the last four years. This work focuses on better public service at the grassroots level. Sangma also noted completed tourism sites at Raksamgre and Tikrikilla as signs of regional progress.
