Shillong: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma announced a biographical film on his father, the late Lok Sabha Speaker Purno Agitok Sangma. Production starts soon. The Chief Minister confirmed he already reviewed the script but kept plot specifics under wraps.
"I should not share too much detail because you will see it when the movie comes out," Sangma said. He spoke during a ceremony in Shillong on Wednesday, where three former United Democratic Party MLAs joined the National People’s Party.
The film tracks the political evolution of the elder Sangma. It highlights a pivotal moment at St. Anthony’s College in Shillong, where a political science professor first introduced him to the idea of a unified Northeast identity. That early exposure cemented his goal of building a platform for tribal communities, minorities, and marginalized groups. He pursued this vision for a collective regional voice starting in 2000.
