Shillong: The National People’s Party is ramping up operations for the looming Shillong Parliamentary constituency by-election. Deputy Chief Minister and state party president Prestone Tynsong ordered workers on Thursday to knock on every door in the district.
Tynsong spent hours meeting with village, constituency, and district leaders to audit the party's readiness. He laid out the strategy clearly. “We have already requested all the members of the NPP up to the village level to work harder and also to reach out to each and every household in the Shillong Parliamentary constituency,” he stated.
The party aims to fortify its base across all levels of the organization. Officials expect the vote to happen soon. Beyond this race, the NPP is planning for the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council election expected next year. Tynsong steered clear of questions regarding the recent addition of three former United Democratic Party legislators. He kept the talk strictly on the immediate electoral calendar.
