Shillong: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma opened the new Jirang Community and Rural Development Block Office at Patharkhmah on October 12. Local under-20 national footballer Ribansi Jamu cut the ribbon on the Block Integrated Development Complex. The government aims to sharpen service delivery by placing modern administrative hubs closer to the public.

Sangma noted the project foundations were laid years ago. He told the public: "Modern block offices were being developed across Meghalaya to improve access to government schemes and strengthen service delivery." This facility is part of a massive push in Ri-Bhoi district, where 184 active projects currently carry a price tag exceeding Rs 1,847 crore.

The state government also greenlit Rs 4.5 crore to build a new block office for Mawhati. This funding ensures every block in the district gains a dedicated, functional workspace. Sangma credited the residents of Jirang for their cooperation, stating these investments directly target local needs and regional goals.
