Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang led a special Cabinet meeting on October 12 to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi hitting 25 years in public office. Modi first became Gujarat Chief Minister on October 7, 2001. The state government used the session to thank the Centre for its help during the Covid-19 pandemic, massive Teesta floods, earthquakes, and landslides.

Ministers praised the Prime Minister for his work on infrastructure, tourism, healthcare, and education. They specifically noted his push for better connectivity in the Northeast, an area he calls the 'Ashtalakshmi' due to its cultural heritage and natural resources. This focus has bolstered the region's part in national growth.

Sikkim plans to align with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047. The Cabinet highlighted that progress in the Himalayas must balance economic gains with disaster resilience and environmental protection. They intend to maintain local cultural identity while chasing sustainable development goals.

The council pledged to support national programs like Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. They expressed firm belief in the Prime Minister's roadmap for a self-reliant India. The meeting concluded with formal congratulations to Modi, citing his leadership as a driver for both state and national prosperity.
