Gangtok: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang flew to Thiruvananthapuram on October 23. He attended the swearing-in ceremony of Om Prakash Mathur as the new Governor of Keralam. Mathur previously served as the 18th Governor of Sikkim from July 31, 2024, until October 19, 2026. Dushyant Kumar Gautam replaced him as the 19th Governor of the Himalayan state on October 19.

Tamang praised the appointment on social media. He backed Mathur to succeed in his new post, noting his administrative track record. "I am confident that his administrative experience and public service will help him discharge his responsibilities effectively," Tamang wrote.

The two men visited the historic Padmanabhaswamy Temple together after the ceremony. Tamang offered prayers for the peace and harmony of Sikkim. He called the temple visit a blessed experience. The Chief Minister hopes the guidance of Lord Padmanabhaswamy will protect the people of his home state.
