Itanagar: Police in Arunachal Pradesh seized 261.85 grams of heroin on October 15. The haul is worth approximately Rs 20 lakh. Officers acted on a tip-off in the New Khamdu village, located within the Nampong police station jurisdiction. They found the contraband on Shimnya Sangwal, a resident of Lungka village.
Sangwal is currently in custody. Police registered a case against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Investigators are now working to trace the supply chain. They want to know if others are helping run this drug network.
Home Minister Mama Natung praised the team on October 16. He reaffirmed the state government's hard line on narcotics. "Our government maintains zero tolerance against illicit drugs. Anyone threatening the future of our youth will face the full force of the law," Natung said.
