Itanagar: Namsai police smashed a local drug ring on August 3. Officers arrested four men at 6:45 pm following a tip about narcotics activity near the Circuit House. Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi led the raid with help from the All Namsai Area Youth Association.
Police nabbed Chow Nakalan Mein, 40, Gopal Chetry, 40, Suresh Gour, 37, and Janu Urang, 28. Nakalan Mein is a habitual peddler with three prior arrests under the NDPS Act. Authorities recovered 60 grams gross and 9 grams net of suspected heroin. They also seized 61,440 rupees in cash, two lighters, and 20 syringes.
Officers booked the group under sections 21(b), 27A, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley supervised the operation. Investigators are now digging into the financial trail to find where the drugs originated. Namsai Police stated, "Namsai Police reiterated its commitment to stringent action against drug trafficking and appealed to members of the public to share credible information, assuring that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential."
