Police Arrest Assam Man With Heroin in Banderdewa

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested Rohit Borah, a 23-year-old resident of Lakhimpur, Assam, for drug possession. Officers stopped Borah at 11:49 pm on August 2 in Banderdewa. They found 9.29 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside his undergarments. The arrest followed a tip.

Inspector Kipa Hamak led the operation. His team included SI Yon Yao, ASI A. Rajbhar, Head Constables Gyammar Kayung and Tade Bomdom, and Constable T. Tsering. Authorities booked Borah at the Banderdewa Police Station under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. He is the son of the late Arun Borah from Parbatipur.

Dr. Nyelam Nega, Superintendent of Police for ICR Naharlagun, addressed the community after the bust. He called for public cooperation to combat local trafficking. "Police's commitment to building a drug-free society" remains a top priority, Nega stated. He urged citizens to stay vigilant and report suspicious activity immediately.
