Shillong: Meghalaya Police busted a heroin shipment in Shillong on September 21. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force intercepted a vehicle in the Pynthorumkhrah area after receiving a tip about drugs moving from Silchar, Assam, into the city. Officers searched the car and found four soap boxes packed with narcotics.
The haul weighed 40.12 grams. Officials valued the seized contraband at Rs 7 lakh. Police detained the two men inside the vehicle, identifying them as Jamir Hussain Laskar from Cachar district, Assam, and Joy Ryntathiang of Umkdait, Shillong. The substance tested positive for heroin during the roadside inspection.
Authorities are now working to dismantle the wider trafficking network. Investigators aim to track the origin of the drugs and find other suspects involved. As officials stated, "Further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended destination of the drugs and identify other people allegedly linked to the trafficking network."
