Shillong: A 4.1 magnitude earthquake hit Meghalaya's West Garo Hills on September 11. The tremor struck at 4:03 pm. Data from the National Centre for Seismology shows the quake hit at a depth of 10 kilometres. It happened at exactly 4:03:46 pm.
The epicentre sat at 25.960 degrees north latitude and 90.305 degrees east longitude. The ground shook hard. Authorities reported no casualties or structural damage in the immediate aftermath of the event.
The NCS continues to monitor the area for additional seismic activity. The agency stated, "The NCS, which monitors seismic activity across the country, is expected to provide further details on the earthquake and its impact, if any."
