Kohima: District Planning and Development Board officials met in Longleng and Noklak this month to hash out local infrastructure and welfare plans. The Longleng session took place September 18 at the DPDB Hall. Deputy Commissioner W. Manpai Phom led the meeting. He reviewed the ongoing construction of the District Hospital and the Light House project at Government Higher Secondary School.
Medical staff pushed for support for the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan. They asked members to provide financial aid for TB patients. The board approved a proposal to add a blood bank and storage unit to the District Hospital. They also discussed installing a 100 kV transformer for the new hospital building. The Social Welfare Department must now track which Anganwadi centres operate in private versus government buildings. Education officials presented a status report, but the Additional Deputy Commissioner demanded an explanation for why 10 schools remain blacklisted. The Police Department is on deck to present at the next meeting, while staff also planned a departmental sports meet for October.
The Noklak meeting occurred September 15 at the SP Conference Hall under Deputy Commissioner P. Mono Khiamniungan. The board recommended upgrading Union Mission School Pathso from Class 8 to Class 9. The Social Welfare Department detailed their work regarding child nutrition, women's welfare, and support for persons with disabilities. Members stressed the need for better rural outreach.
Vikhoto Richa, the SDO Civil for Noklak, explained the Solid Waste Management Rules 2026. "The house entrusted the Forest Department with making a PowerPoint presentation at the next DPDB meeting," according to meeting records. Members also joined a video conference focused on the Reform Utsav 2026 initiative.
