SAMETI Trains Nagaland Agricultural Officers on Nursery Management

Kohima: The State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute wrapped up a three-day nursery management workshop in Dimapur on November 6. Twenty-eight ATMA officers from across Nagaland attended the sessions, which ran from November 4. Akam Zeliang, Deputy Project Director at SAMETI, chaired the opening proceedings.

Seyievielo Sono, Vice Principal of the Integrated Extension Training Centre in Medziphema, addressed the group. He stressed that proper nursery oversight drives crop success. Sono urged attendees to share new tech with local farmers to boost state yields. He stated, "nursery management is key to the successful production of crops."

Training duties fell to a panel of experts. Dr. Ashwini Ananda from Nagaland University, Dr. Aabon W. Yanthan from ICAR, Dr. Suman Soni of CIH, and Dr. Rokolhuü Keditsu from the Department of Horticulture led the technical instructions. The program balanced classroom lectures with hands-on practice at the SAMETI campus. Participants also visited the AICRP and ICAR research farms to see the techniques in action.
