Arunachal Home Minister Natung Opens Badminton Court, Starts Child Safety Initiative

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Mama Natung opened a new badminton court at the 4th India Reserve Battalion headquarters in Jully, Itanagar, on October 12. Director General of Police S. D. Singh Jamwal and various senior officers watched the ceremony. Physical health drives the force. The minister told the jawans that the facility gives them a place to stay fit and active during off-duty hours.

Natung warned the personnel against using drugs or engaging in any illegal behavior. He demanded strict discipline. Alongside the sports facility, the state launched Project Abhaya. This initiative targets child safety and teaches people about the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Natung wants the program to reach schools, local hostels, and neighborhoods to build better protection for kids. "The badminton court had been established to support the fitness and well-being of police personnel, allowing them to engage in regular sporting activities during their off-duty periods," said DGP Jamwal. The double-header event signals a shift for the state police, balancing troop welfare with community-focused safety goals.
