Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police arrested five men for an armed robbery that terrorized a family in Namsai. Seven gunmen stormed the Simolbari residence of Omnath Dhanuk between 7 pm and 8:30 pm on October 30. They assaulted the occupants, including a child, before fleeing with Rs 10 lakh in cash, gold ornaments, and four mobile phones.

Police registered the case on October 31 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Namsai Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi confirmed the suspects executed a pre-planned hit fueled by a personal dispute. "The accused had allegedly conducted reconnaissance of the victim's residence and planned their entry and escape routes in advance," Dirchi said.

Officers recovered a 7.65 mm Turkish-made pistol, serial number 4837, along with two live rounds. They also seized a gold mangalsutra, two mobile phones, and two motorcycles, one of which served as a getaway vehicle. The haul remains incomplete. Police are still hunting two other suspects and the rest of the stolen cash.

The arrested include Latul Boruah, 43, Dinesh Gogoi, 41, Mineswar Dihingia, 44, Chow Kyapeng Manlong, 30, and 43-year-old Sophio Mepo. Several suspects carry heavy criminal records. Dihingia and Mepo are former National Socialist Council of Nagaland cadres. Manlong faces previous charges for attempted murder, extortion, and violations of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. Gogoi was previously booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.
