Arunachal Police Officer Arrested in Bribery Sting

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh police arrested sub-inspector Vijay Kumar on October 10 for taking a bribe. He runs the Chongkham police station. An official from the Anti-Corruption Bureau confirmed the arrest took place in the Mahadevpur area. The officer allegedly took 65,000 rupees in cash.

A complainant tipped off the bureau. Kumar wanted 1.5 lakh rupees to release an FIR, Form 54, and a post-mortem report. The victim needed these files for a Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal filing. ACB agents laid a trap to catch the officer in the act. They nabbed him while he was allegedly accepting the bribe. The official stated, "Further investigation into the case is underway." Authorities are now digging deeper into his actions.
