Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police rescued 38 people, including 34 children, from a human trafficking network. Officers arrested four facilitators linked to the operation. The breakthrough follows a case registered at the Namsai Police Station last month. Investigators tracked victims to locations across Aalo, Mechuka, Pasighat, Naharlagun, Itanagar, Longding, and parts of neighboring Assam.
Namsai Deputy Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi is leading the probe under the watch of Superintendent of Police Sangey Thinley. They are coordinating with the Child Welfare Committee and the District Child Protection Unit. Rupali Padung is the latest suspect detained. She allegedly moved victims and placed them in illegal spots. Police are now digging into financial records and electronic evidence to break the wider network.
Authorities are questioning parents, guardians, and the people holding the victims at various sites. The rescued children are receiving medical and psychological support. "The rescued children are receiving care and protection through the CWC and DCPU, with counselling and rehabilitation support being provided," Thinley said. Officials are keeping identities of the minors confidential to satisfy legal requirements as the search for more suspects continues.

Investigators officially tagged the inquiry as Namsai Police Station Case No. 54/2026. The probe has spread beyond Namsai, with leads now stretching across Eastern and Central Arunachal Pradesh. Police are looking at whether these recoveries represent a broader, organized chain rather than isolated incidents.
SP Sangey Thinley confirmed the net may widen even further. As the hunt for the trafficking ring continues, officers are actively following leads that point toward potential inter-state links involving neighboring Assam.
