Itanagar: The Army Sports Institute in Pune secured six young prospects for specialized training after a talent hunt in Tawang. More than 70 students from across Arunachal Pradesh gathered for the event held October 27 to 29. Competition was stiff. Trainers ultimately tapped four athletes for archery, one for weightlifting, and one for track and field.

These recruits land a sweet deal. They get free schooling plus expert coaching in their specific sport. The Indian Army managed the three-day operation to scout local promise.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu praised the results. He promised to make the camp a yearly fixture. During the announcement, Khandu stated, "The talent scouting camp would be organised annually in collaboration with the Indian Army to identify and nurture promising sporting talent from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh." He thanked the military and all staff for running the successful program.
