Itanagar: Sacred relics of Lord Buddha, known as Shakyamuni, touched down in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh. They traveled from the National Museum in New Delhi. Chief Minister Pema Khandu confirmed the arrival. It is a big deal for the state.

These artifacts come from the ancient Piprahwa Stupa. The site sits in the Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh. It links directly to ancient Kapilavastu. That area served as the homeland for the Shakya clan. Buddha hailed from that group.

Khandu called the event a historic occasion. He shared his perspective on the arrival. "The arrival of the sacred relics in Tawang was a historic occasion," Khandu said. He expects the visit to strengthen public ties to Buddhist values. He specifically pointed to compassion, peace, wisdom, and universal brotherhood.
