Itanagar: Chief Minister Pema Khandu met with officials to finalize plans for the upcoming Sacred Exposition of the Holy Relics of Shakyamuni Buddha. The event runs from October 31 to November 21, 2026. It hits Tawang, Bomdila, and Namsai. Devotees and scholars will get a chance to view the artifacts during the tour.
This marks the first time in over ten years that Arunachal Pradesh has hosted the relics. Khandu expects the event to hold heavy spiritual weight for the Northeast. The Chief Minister officially thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat for the support. He also credited the National Museum in New Delhi and the International Buddhist Confederation. "The exposition is being organised in Arunachal Pradesh after more than a decade and holds deep spiritual significance for the people of the state and the wider Northeast," Khandu stated.
Khandu ordered district administrations in Tawang, Namsai, and West Kameng to sync up their efforts. Departments must collaborate to guarantee smooth operations. The state wants to make sure people from across the region can attend the spiritual event without a hitch.
