Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the state government will meet with any groups opposing the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project. He wants constructive engagement to resolve public concerns. The deputy chief minister spoke at the silver jubilee of the All Palin, Chambang, Yangte, Gangte and Tarak-Lengdi Students' Union in Palin, Kra Daadi district on Thursday.
Mein called for expert consultations and clear communication with the public. He said, "Differences over the project should be addressed through constructive engagement, informed discussions and mutual understanding." The state remains ready to talk with all concerned organizations and individuals.
Beyond the dam debate, Mein pushed the youth toward business instead of waiting for state employment. He pointed to tourism as a prime sector for growth. Better roads have opened doors for homestays, resorts, and restaurants across the state. He told students to grab government incentives to launch these ventures.
The minister also highlighted the state's vast natural wealth. Hydropower and minerals offer a path to economic health if the government handles them responsibly. He reminded the youth to keep their indigenous languages and traditions alive. He encouraged them to digitize ancient manuscripts and document oral histories while they modernize.
