Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh just went live with a new 132 kV Miao-Namsai transmission line. This project spans nearly 41 kilometers. It links Namsai, Diyun, and Miao to the grid. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the commissioning on July 29.
Reliability is the main goal. The line services the Changlang district and surrounding areas. It cuts reliance on older, long radial transmission networks while meeting rising energy demands. "The nearly 41-km transmission line connecting Namsai, Diyun and Miao will significantly enhance power reliability in Changlang district and adjoining areas, strengthen grid connectivity, reduce dependence on long radial networks, and support the region’s growing energy needs," Mein stated.
The work falls under the Comprehensive Scheme for Strengthening of Transmission and Distribution System (CSST&DS). This federal initiative covers both Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim. It aims to stop power losses and spark development in remote border zones. PGCIL is handling the build alongside state officials. They are currently constructing new substations and associated distribution hardware. Planners expect the entire scheme to wrap up by 2027.
Progress remains steady. The state has already finished 91 of the 239 total components planned for this rollout. Mein credited the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, the state power department, and local district administrations for the successful completion. The finished infrastructure will tie the state grid closer to the national network.
