Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein ordered state departments to ramp up implementation of all 2026-27 budget proposals. Mein held a review session at the Itanagar Civil Secretariat on Thursday, July 16, to evaluate financial and physical project progress. He demands immediate action.
The government allocated Rs 36,607 crore for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This money covers infrastructure, governance reforms, and public welfare. Mein specifically targeted the Chief Minister’s Rural Development Programme and the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Power Development Programme for accelerated execution. He also highlighted education, healthcare, drinking water, skill development, and physical connectivity as high-priority sectors.
He told officials to submit revised guidelines to clear bottlenecks. Department heads must report any additional funding needs right away. The state aims for inclusive growth across all districts.
Separately, Mein reviewed projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, North East Special Infrastructure Development Scheme, and Ministry of DoNER. He also discussed the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region and the Vibrant Villages Programme.
Regarding the border development initiative, Mein noted the Prime Minister’s vision of treating border villages as the country’s "first villages" to ensure equitable development in frontier areas. He instructed deputy commissioners to engage local elected representatives in project planning. Districts must now upload geo-tagged photos and utilisation certificates to the VVP portal to secure further funding from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Despite issues like poor internet and portal glitches, agencies must keep tight deadlines and strict quality standards.
