Kohima: State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Tongpang L Jamir, met with top census officials in Kohima on September 1. He sat down with Director of Census Operations, Dr. Kenei Miachieo, and Deputy Director Imkongnungsang to lock in plans for the next Census. They need better data. The goal is to capture all 21 recognized disability types across Nagaland during the count.
Proper identification matters. Enumerators require better training to spot disabilities correctly and handle the process with care. State officials want clear, accurate numbers to drive policy and steer resources toward those who need them most. Miachieo insisted the work must be done with "sensitivity, dignity and respect" for all participants.
The two offices pledged to work closely to ensure every individual gets logged correctly. They aim to make the system fully inclusive and representative. "Leave no person with disability behind," the agencies declared, committing to a process where every citizen is "counted, recognised and appropriately represented" in the final tally.
